Today's the Day...or not =)

Even though today was her due date, it looks like the baby is holding out a few more days before making her appearance, just like her Mom and Dad asked. =) We were hoping that she would wait to be born until after this work week for leave purposes and Kurt's Dad is hopeful that she'll be his birthday present next Wednesday.

Both girls continue to do well and there are no real updates from last week's appointment. Now we're down to appointments every two days and one way or another we'll have an addition to our family within 10 days.

Stay tuned for updates and keep your fingers crossed for us!

The Home Stretch... Start of Week 40

It's hard to believe that it's the start of week 40...it seems like we just found out Carrie was pregnant! It's really surreal to realize that any day now, we'll be parents! We're very excited to meet our daughter and start on our next adventure as a family!

On Tuesday this week, we toured the hospital where the baby will be born. Since it was a public information session and tour, it was of course all in German. Luckily, we had a friend come with us to translate. We didn't learn anything earth-shattering, but it was nice to get familiar with the route to the maternity ward.

Carrie's doctor's appointment yesterday was pretty much a repeat of last week's. Both girls are still doing well and it doesn't look like the little one is anxious to come out and play any time soon. Although it's just an estimate, the doctor said that the baby was 8lbs 7oz ....that's 2 oz less than last week. =)

We have another appointment next week...we'll see if we make it that far! If the baby doesn't arrive on her own by June 6th, Carrie likely will be induced early the next week.

10 Days To Go....Week 39

Carrie had another check up. Everything still is going well...iron levels are awesome, the baby only gained a few ounces (much to Carrie's relief), and both girls are healthy. While on the fetal monitor, the baby apparently was sleeping and it took a minute to get her to a good position to pick up her heartbeat. This past week, Carrie has been getting more frequent Braxton Hicks contractions. It's amazing how hard her belly gets! At least one of these was picked up on the monitor. Unfortunately, it's pretty cramped in there....we didn't even get to see her face very well in the office.

The Doctor said everything looks fine and that there's no indication that the baby is getting ready to make her appearance, that she can come any day now!

Here's Carrie at 39 weeks:

Week 38...20 more days!

Today's doctor appointment starts the beginning of weekly appointments until our little lady decides to arrive. We were pleased to find out that both Carrie and the baby are doing well...Carrie's iron levels were even in the normal range! The doctor also gave us an estimated current weight of 8 pounds!!! Woah! The ultrasound picture is not very good...I guess there's not much room left in there!

The countdown is still on even though there's no significant signs that we'll be introducing the baby to you soon.

In the past couple of days, it seems like the baby has settled a bit lower and has been kicking up a storm. Kurt saw the baby kick so strongly that Carrie jumped in her sleep last night!

Here's a picture of Carrie today, at the start of week 37:
