Emma had a very Frohe erste Weihnacht (Merry first Christmas).
We started our Christmas festivities on Christmas Eve with a delicious dinner with friends. Emma was excited to open her first gifts -- her mouth was instrumental in accomplishing this task. =) She received a puzzle, fill and spill picnic basket and a very cool hot water bottle holder! Even at almost 7 months old, Emma was excited for Santa to come and had a hard time going to sleep on Christmas Eve (what in the world are we in for in years to come! ;) )
On Christmas morning, Emma let Mommy and Daddy open their gifts first and then had a good time opening her stocking and gifts from family and Santa. Emma ripped the wrapping paper if we started it for her, but she also felt that the most efficient way to open gifts was to use her mouth. The paper was by far the most interesting item of the day and I think she decided that red paper tasted the best. Emma received many fun gifts including a stuffed dog, a stuffed musical elephant, a monkey blankie, several books, a bead maze, a wooden push toy, and a couple new outfits.
In the afternoon, we had dinner with good friends. The ham dinner was delicious as were all the Christmas cookies we exchanged for dessert! It was fun watching Emma interact with the two other babies there.
We put Emma in a walker during dinner and she quickly figured out that she was able to go where ever she wanted! We will definitely be getting her one soon after we get back to Maryland to give our backs a break from walking her around all day long!
We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!
PS Stay tuned for pictures. In the meantime, here's Emma in one of her new Christmas outfits!
