We helped Emma's friend from school, Claire, celebrate her 1st birthday on Saturday. Emma had a lot of fun playing with the other kids. There were a few tense moments when two children wanted the same toy at the same time, but luckily, they were either convinced to trade toys or at least one of them was distracted by something else and everyone continued to have a good time. Claire's parents always throw great parties. (We helped Cameron celebrate his 2nd birthday in October) They had great kid friendly food... Emma and all the other kids devoured the barbecue meatballs; had great activities...the kids got to decorate little clay flowerpots (complete with a lollipop flower) with stickers, and had amazing flower and butterfly cakes!
Funny story from the party that shows how smart 2 year olds are: At one point Emma, Claire's brother Cameron, and a friend Milo were having fun shutting a bedroom door. Carrie was pretty sure that Emma was the instigator and snapped at Kurt to get them to stop. Kurt opened the door and said, "Hey guys, Mommy just yelled at me that we have to stop slamming the door." Kurt said that all 3 kids' eyes got as big as saucers when he said he got in trouble and that Cameron asked, "Do you have to go home now?"
